Statement

I specialise in Javanese and Balinese dance (from Indonesia), including storytelling and mask work. I enable children to explore ideas through movement, music, character and story work, drawing on traditional art forms, while also relating to and exploring their own experiences of the world. I have experience of using the child-led Reggio Emilia approach in early years residencies.

Experience

I have run workshops, residencies and classes in Javanese and Balinese dance for children and young people since 1998.

Early years residencies

2008 Bournemouth & Poole Cultural Hub Early Years residency: term-long project for Reception classs at Hillbourne First School, using Reggio Emilia approach to creativity, collaborating with visual artist Teresa Grimaldi

2008 Bournemouth & Poole Library Services, Sing Me a Story project: Dance and story telling sessions for early years, parents & carers, and training and mentoring for library staff

2007 Bournemouth & Poole Cultural Hub Early Years residency: 6-week project at Merley pre-school using Reggio Emilia approach to creativity, collaborating with story teller Michele O’Brien
