StatementI have an MA in Communication Design from CentraI St Martins and BA Hons in Combined Arts. I work as a textile illustrator and I have recently completed my second children’s pop up book published by Tango Books. I have worked for the last twelve years in schools on many projects producing a variety of outcomes including banners, wall panels, murals and books. More recently my work has been shaped by the process of creativity and I have become very interested in the work of the pre schools in Reggio Emilia and the philosophy of child centred creativity. I have recently finished the second phase of a residency in Devon called Art to Start which was shaped, supported informed by 5x5x5 educators and DAISI. My role as an artist is to approach projects as a co-explorer, with the children and teachers. I love working with maps, stories and quality materials and distorting, re-exploring and re-discovering overlooked spaces. My next project is for the Big Draw in sussex where I will be creating giant pop up story characters that can be dressed up. I have a current enhanced disclosure certificate as well as public liability insurance. |
ExperienceI worked with Devon Artists in Schools Initiative on phase one and phase two of their early years research project called Art to Start. I have worked with my collaborator and sister, Teresa Grimaldi to present live art installations for early years audiences, speak and present workshops at early years conferences in Devon and Portsmouth. Art to Start early years project training with Daisi, Sandra Barefoot and Mike Akers. |
